VC mic gradually becomes unusuable. Gets "trigger-happy"

Here’´s what I mean:

When I start VC mic, it works great. Eventually though, after 15-30 minutes, it starts responding to anything I say as if I had said “activate microphone” or “activate voice computer”. I haven’t said anything resembling those phrases.

This makes working by voice impossible. “Activate microphone”, of course, shuts off Dragon’s microphone, making dictation impossible.

“Activate voice computer” pops up that dialogue, interrupting any further work.

My only solution is to shut down VC microphone.

It is not a solution to use the tool for adjusting VC mic settings. I have already used it to set VC mic to work great (initially).

Any ideas about what’s going on and how to fix it?

When you perform the VC Mic configuration, what are the acccuracy settings that you’re getting?

Email me the VC Mic log file.

VC_MicrophoneLog.txt from the C:\ProgramData\VoiceTeach\Microphone directory.

Hi Ron,

Here are my current settings for VC microphone:

activate microphone

1-Commands Match: 97.8

2-Commands Match: 96.6

Set the maximum time you want to be able to to say a command twice: 3

activate voice computer

1-Commands Match: 96.2

2-Commands Match: 94.2

Set the maximum time you want to be able to to say a command twice: 3

I have sent the VC mic log file by email as requested.

I’ve looked at your log file.

It’s on the short side so I only have enough data to make some guesses…

You’re getting great accuracy! - What type of microphone are you using?

What you perceive as the microphone being ‘Trigger Happy’, is the program recognizing your commands at the accuracy settings that you have configured.

Based on your accuracy, it seems that your ‘Activate VoiceComputer’ commands are set too low.

Use the 'Manually configure the accuracy setting for the ‘Activate VoiceComputer’ commands (in the 'Configure VoiceComputer" options) to the same settings that you have configured for the ‘Activate Microphone’ commands. (97.8 96.6), or even a little higher, (97.8 97.0).

Save these settings and test them out.

Adjust them a little higher (.2 or .4 higher) if you’re getting false positives (the program is too ‘Trigger Happy’) and a little lower (.2 or .4) if the program isn’t picking you up.

Let us know!

My version of VoiceComputer is 1.2.2.1 Here is more feedback on the VC mic configuration tools

9. Configure/train the VC Microphone

This appears to be broken. It says that it is opening the VC log file, but it does not do that. It used to open a tool for training the VC commands, but it stopped doing so a while back. Has this been removed?

11 Opens the VC’s log file and enables adjustment/troubleshooting of the Mic’s settings

It functions normally. It is the only option for adjusting the settings, based on the log file.

It also opens “Using the VC Microphone.pdf”. This is useful. However a small message opens over it that is puzzling because it says, in part: Read the “Optimization” section in VC Microphone Documentation (VC Mic Configuration).

It shows a screenshot of “VC Microphone configuration screen”. It goes with the VC mic’s configuration tool. As I mentioned above, that is no longer available.

> Has this been removed?

No. I ‘improved’ it but I guess the new version has some bugs.

If you see a VP_ErrorLog.txt file in C:\ProgramData\VoiceTeach\VoiceComputer, plesae send it to me.

I see no way to attach this log here.

The app does not accept “*.txt”. Message returned is “Invalid file extension”

I’ll send it by email to you.
