For those using Dragon Medical Practice Edition 2.1 (DMPE 2.1), there are a couple of issues of which everyone needs to be aware.
DMPE 2.1 but does not fully support IE 11 or Microsoft Office 2013 regardless of whether you’re running in Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1. That is, you will not find any Natural Language Commands listed for either in the Command Browser under the above conditions.
If you want full support for IE or Microsoft Office with DMPE 2.1, you can have such under Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit as long as you only use IE 10 and/or Microsoft Office 2010. If you install IE 11 or Microsoft Office 2013 even in Windows 7, you will not find any Natural Language Commands listed for either of those applications in the Command Browser for DMPE 2.1. That being said, most commands will continue to work properly even with IE 11 and/or Microsoft Office 2013. However, most users will find it difficult to work with such from memory since you won’t have access to the command lists (Natural Language Commands).
Under Windows 8/8.1 you may find that some webpages will crash when using DMPE 2.1 with IE 11. This can occur with or without using certain VoiceComputer commands, specifically Super Numbers. This is not caused by VoiceComputer. It’s a byproduct of lack of support for IE 11 under DMPE 2.1. If you are using DNS 12.51 under either Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 with Microsoft Office 2013 or IE 11, this problem does not occur because that version of DNS (retail – Premium, Legal, or Professional) fully supports IE 11 and/or Microsoft Office 2013 under either Windows 7 or Windows 8/8. Therefore, the problem is not with VoiceComputer. It is with DMPE 2.1 under these conditions.
This information is simply provided FYI. Be aware of the fact that under Windows 8/8.1 you cannot go back to IE 10 because IE 10 is not supported under that version of Windows. Therefore, if you are using DMPE 2.1, the choice of whether or not to go with Windows 8/8.1 or stay with Windows 7 is a personal decision based on your specific needs. There is nothing we can do to correct that problem because it lies entirely with Nuance’s medical division. Still, be advised that whether you go with Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, DMPE 2.1 does not fully support either IE 11 or Microsoft Office 2013.Chucker2014-01-06 08:51:20
