client windows paging

I just recently started testing out the client paging function. The commands that I’ve tested and appear to function correctly are “client go to top”,“client go to bottom” and "client page ".

However, when I say “client page up/down” it’s as if the “page up/page down” button has been pressed TWICE rather than once. And if I say “client page up/down <1-10>” it’s as if the “page up/down” button has been pushed TWICE as many times.

Surely this is not how this is supposed to function, is it? Has anyone else had the same problem? I’m using VoicePower version 11.5.3 .0 and Office 2010 (both Word and Excel exhibit this behavior).

rj,

I assume that you are aware that "client page " is only applicable to Microsoft Word. However, I will point it out here just FYI.

Difficult to say whether or not we found this in VoicePower 11.5.3.0 and fixed it, but we are now at 11.7.0.1 and I can't duplicate your problem. These all seem to work fine in 11.71. Obviously paging has to do with what constitutes a visible page (i.e., wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to page past text not visible on the screen). Nonetheless, I can't find any particular problem.

Since I know that you're using both DNS and Windows Speech Recognition (WSR), are you sure that you don't have the microphone turned on for both? Double execution is typical of dictating text or commands with both DNS and Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) active with the microphone on for both.

Regardless, Ron and I are going to take a look at it anyway. We're going to finalize an updated version for distribution in the next week. If you're entitled to a free upgrade, you'll be notified.

Chuck
my latest version is 11.69. is this the latest version released?
Is 11.7.0.1 the same as 11.71 and is this the reference of the soon to be released upgrade?
Another question, how does one insert quotations in this forum?

John,

<p>Version 11.7.0.1 is 11.71<font face="Arial">. We just shorten it. The next release will be available in a few days. We're in the process of fixing a number VoicePower command issues.</font></p><font face="Arial">

Since my previous post I have reinstalled my OS and upgraded to VoicePower 11.7.1.1. I have used client paging in Excel and have had no problems.

If you guys are looking for new things to improve on :-), it would be nice to have to have client paging left/right in Excel. It also might be cool to have a “client move to cell…” command because I sometimes just want to look at the entire contents of a cell and then go back to my working document/spreadsheet. This way, the contents of that cell will be displayed in the formula bar even though the window is inactive. But I think paging left and right would be more useful than this if I had to choose.

Okay, I’m going to have to renege on my last comment. Client paging in Excel works consistently as long as I don’t have to page up or down more than two or three pages (I may have gotten it to work once or twice with four pages). If I try to page up/down 5 to 10 pages the most it will go up/down is 2 to 3 (or possibly four).

Word seems to function a bit better when wanting to page up or down more pages (I am aware that the limit is 10), but there were a few times when it didn’t seem to page up/down as many as it should have. On the whole though, this function works pretty well in Word. (I only tested it briefly though)

By the way, I’m using Office 2010.
